Overview
MeMemo ("we", "our", "the app") is a minimalist life journal app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information.
Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal data.
MeMemo does not collect, transmit, or store any user data on our servers. We do not have servers. All data you create in MeMemo stays entirely under your control.
Data Storage
Your data is stored in two places, both controlled by you:
- On your device: all records are saved locally on your iPhone or iPad.
- In your iCloud: if you enable iCloud sync, your data is backed up to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is associated with your Apple ID and is not accessible to us.
Third-Party Services
MeMemo does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external service used is Apple's iCloud/CloudKit for optional data sync, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any third party. We cannot access your data because it is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account.
Children's Privacy
MeMemo does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require registration or personal information to use.
Data Deletion
You can delete your data at any time by deleting content within the app or by deleting the app from your device. iCloud data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
Data Controller
For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, the data controller of any personal information processed in connection with MeMemo is:
- Aaron Yu, independent developer
- Contact: aaron@mememo.life
Because MeMemo does not collect or receive any personal data on our side, the scope of data we process as a controller is effectively none. All records you create remain on your device and, if you choose, in your personal iCloud account — neither of which we can access.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or a similar jurisdiction with comparable data protection laws, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access: to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: to have inaccurate data corrected.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): to request deletion of your data.
- Right to data portability: to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
- Right to restriction of processing: to limit how your data is used.
- Right to object: to object to certain processing activities.
- Right to lodge a complaint: with your local data protection authority.
Because we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly by you: you can access, edit, export, or delete your records at any time within the app, or remove them entirely by deleting the app and clearing its data from iCloud via your device's iCloud settings. If you still have any questions or wish to exercise a right, contact us at aaron@mememo.life and we will respond within 30 days.
International Data Transfers
MeMemo itself does not transfer personal data internationally because we do not collect or process any. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in Apple's iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure under your Apple ID. Any international transfers that occur as part of that service are handled by Apple and are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and their applicable data transfer mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
